Our chickens are true free-range birds who are in the pasture at least eight hours a day, every day. They forage with the cattle by day and are kept safe in the henhouse at night. There is no artificial lighting to stimulate production, and the birds are kept cage free. Chickens are raised with no antibiotics and are free of hormones. We supplement the birds' natural diets with feeds produced locally that we then custom blend for our flock. Eggs are brown and white, though the Ameraucanas lay very pretty (and delicious) green eggs. Eggs vary in size from medium to jumbo. The yolks are a vibrant sunshine yellow. We pack on premises and typically ship within two or three days of laying. Our breeds include Rhode Island Reds, Buff Orpingtons, California Whites, Barred Rocks, Black Minorcas, Australorps, Silver Hamburgs, Red Stars, Black Stars, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Ameraucanas, Black and White Jersey Giants, and White Leghorns. We raise Japanese Quail for meat and eggs, but these are seasonal products and not always available. We are in the process of growing capons and hope to have them available to the market in the winter of 2008.
